Sight words (also called high-frequency or common words) are the words that appear most often in early reading — words like the, and, said, because and their — which children learn to recognise instantly by sight rather than sounding out. This sheet builds a clean practice page of them: choose a grade level from Kindergarten through Year 6 and it fills the page with that level's words.
The word lists use the well-known Dolch lists for Kindergarten to Year 3 and common Fry high-frequency words for Years 4 to 6. You can print the full graded list, hit the randomiser to draw a fresh random selection for flashcards and quick quizzes, or switch to 'type my own' to enter any words you like (one per line or comma-separated). Set the layout from a single column up to 4 columns by 12 rows, show or hide a box around each word and a name/date header, choose your accent colour, and print at exact scale in portrait or landscape.
Printing at exact scale
Every sheet is drawn in real millimetres and prints at exact physical scale. For accurate output, set Scale = 100% (Actual size) and Margins = None in your browser's print dialog. Not sure your printer is honest? Run the printer ruler test first to confirm 50 mm really measures 50 mm.
Frequently asked questions
Which grade levels are included?
Kindergarten through Year 6. Kindergarten to Year 3 use the classic Dolch sight-word lists (pre-primer/primer through third grade); Years 4 to 6 use common Fry high-frequency words for older readers.
Can I use my own words?
Yes — choose 'Type my own' and enter any words, one per line or separated by commas. This is handy for weekly spelling lists or a child's tricky words.
What does the randomiser do?
With 'Random selection' chosen, press Shuffle to draw a fresh random set from the grade list — great for flashcards, quick-recall drills and games so words aren't always in the same order.
How many words fit on a page?
You control the grid from 1 up to 4 columns and 1 up to 12 rows, so up to 48 words per page. If a grade list is longer than the page, the sheet shows as many as fit and tells you how many of the total are displayed.
Are Dolch and Fry words the same?
They overlap but differ: Dolch is 220 service words plus 95 nouns grouped by grade; Fry is the 1000 most frequent words in ranked bands. This sheet uses Dolch for the younger years and Fry for the older years to give an age-appropriate list at every level.

How do I get an exact-scale print?
Choose your paper size, then in the print dialog set Scale to 100% or “Actual size” and Margins to None. The sheet is defined in real millimetres, so it prints at true size. Use the calibration ruler page to verify.

Can I save it as a PDF instead of printing?
