This savings calculator answers the question 'how much do I need to put away to hit my goal in time?'. Enter the amount you're saving for, when you want to reach it by, and how often you'll set money aside — weekly, fortnightly or monthly — and it works out the exact contribution you need each period. Add any amount you've already saved and it factors that in, so the plan starts from where you actually are. It's ideal for a holiday fund, a house deposit, an emergency buffer, a new car, a wedding, Christmas or any other target with a deadline.
A progress graph plots your balance climbing steadily towards the goal line over time, with the dates marked along the bottom, so you can see at a glance whether you're on track. Turn on compound interest to model returns from a savings account, term deposit or investment: the calculator lowers the contribution you need yourself, draws a second line showing what your own deposits alone would total, and shades the gap between the two — that shaded band is the money interest earns for you. The summary cards show your required deposit, the number of deposits, your total contributions and the interest earned, and a milestones table lists your balance at dates along the way so you can print it and tick each one off.

Printing at exact scale
Every sheet is drawn in real millimetres and prints at exact physical scale. For accurate output, set Scale = 100% (Actual size) and Margins = None in your browser's print dialog. Not sure your printer is honest? Run the printer ruler test first to confirm 50 mm really measures 50 mm. Prefer a file? Use the PDF, PNG or SVG buttons to download the sheet instead of printing — PDF and SVG keep the exact dimensions, and PNG is a 300 DPI image.
Frequently asked questions
How much do I need to save each week or month?
Enter your goal amount and target date and choose weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The calculator divides the amount still needed across the number of periods before the deadline and shows the exact deposit required each period. If you turn on compound interest, it solves for the smaller deposit that still reaches the goal once growth is included.
How does the compound interest option work?
Tick 'Include compound interest' and enter an annual rate. The calculator compounds your balance each saving period and works out the lower contribution you need because interest is doing some of the work. The graph then shows two lines — your balance with interest, and what your deposits alone would total — and shades the difference so you can see how much the interest adds.
Can I include money I've already saved?
Yes. Enter it in 'Amount already saved' and the plan starts from that balance, so you only need to save the remainder (and, with interest on, your existing balance grows too).
What does the progress graph show?
It plots your running balance rising towards the goal line, with dates along the bottom axis. With compound interest on it adds a second, lower line for contributions only, and shades the gap between them to highlight the interest earned.
Is this financial advice?
No. It's a general planning estimate. Investment returns and interest rates aren't guaranteed and can change, so use the result as a guide and confirm anything important with a licensed financial adviser.

How do I get an exact-scale print?
Choose your paper size, then in the print dialog set Scale to 100% or “Actual size” and Margins to None. The sheet is defined in real millimetres, so it prints at true size. Use the calibration ruler page to verify.
Which paper sizes are supported?
A4, A5, A3, A6, US Letter, Legal and Tabloid, in portrait or landscape. Pick the size that matches the paper loaded in your printer.
Can I save it as a PDF instead of printing?
Yes — choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in your browser's print dialog. The PDF keeps the exact millimetre dimensions.
Can I download it as an image (PNG or SVG)?
Yes — as well as Print and PDF, every sheet has a PNG and an SVG download button. PNG gives you a high-resolution (300 DPI) image at the exact page size, ideal for pasting into a document or sharing. SVG is a scalable vector file that stays razor-sharp at any size and can be edited in tools like Inkscape or Illustrator. Both are generated in your browser from the sheet you see on screen.
