Printable Fraction Bars & Strips
Free printable fraction bars / fraction strips (a fraction wall) at exact scale — equal-width bars from one whole down to twelfths, labelled or blank, for comparing, ordering and adding fractions.
A fraction wall is a stack of equal-length bars: the top bar is one whole, the next split into halves, then thirds, quarters and so on down to 1/n. Because every bar is the same total width, students can line them up to see that 1/2 = 2/4 = 3/6, compare and order fractions, and understand addition and equivalence visually.
Choose how many rows (down to twelfths or further), whether to use every denominator or just the common ones, and whether cells are labelled with the fraction, the unit fraction only, or left blank to fill in. Colour-code the rows or keep it black and white. It prints at exact scale on A4, Letter or any size.
Printing at exact scale
Every sheet is drawn in real millimetres and prints at exact physical scale. For accurate output, set Scale = 100% (Actual size) and Margins = None in your browser's print dialog. Not sure your printer is honest? Run the printer ruler test first to confirm 50 mm really measures 50 mm.
Frequently asked questions
What is a fraction wall?
A set of equal-length bars divided into halves, thirds, quarters and so on, stacked up so you can compare fractions and see equivalences at a glance.
Can I get blank fraction strips?
Yes — set labels to Blank for unlabelled strips students fill in, or use fraction / unit-fraction labels for a reference wall.
How many fractions can it show?
From halves up to 1/20, either every denominator or just the common ones (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12).
Is it really free?
Yes. Every template on printsheet.io is completely free, with no sign-up, no account and no watermark. Generate as many sheets as you like.
How do I get an exact-scale print?
Choose your paper size, then in the print dialog set Scale to 100% or “Actual size” and Margins to None. The sheet is defined in real millimetres, so it prints at true size. Use the calibration ruler page to verify.
Which paper sizes are supported?
A4, A5, A3, A6, US Letter, Legal and Tabloid, in portrait or landscape. Pick the size that matches the paper loaded in your printer.
Can I save it as a PDF instead of printing?
Yes — choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in your browser's print dialog. The PDF keeps the exact millimetre dimensions.
