Printable Battleship Game Sheets
Free printable Battleship game sheet at exact scale — a single coordinate grid with a name line, a pictorial fleet legend and a hit/miss marking key. Each player prints their own.
Battleship is the classic pen-and-paper naval guessing game: each player secretly marks their fleet on a grid, then calls out coordinates to hunt the opponent's ships. This sheet is designed so each player prints their own copy — a single lettered-and-numbered grid (rows A.. and columns 1..) with a name line at the top, so coordinates like B7 are always unambiguous.
A pictorial fleet legend shows each ship drawn to size in cells — Carrier (5), Battleship (4), Cruiser (3), Submarine (3) and Destroyer (2) — plus a small marking key showing how to record a hit (a filled dot) and a miss (a cross). Choose the grid size (10×10 is standard) and print two copies for a head-to-head game.
Printing at exact scale
Every sheet is drawn in real millimetres and prints at exact physical scale. For accurate output, set Scale = 100% (Actual size) and Margins = None in your browser's print dialog. Not sure your printer is honest? Run the printer ruler test first to confirm 50 mm really measures 50 mm.
Frequently asked questions
How many sheets do we need?
One each — both players print and fill in their own sheet, keeping it hidden from their opponent. A note on the sheet reminds you of this.
What grid size should I use?
10×10 with lettered rows A–J and numbered columns 1–10 is the classic size. Go smaller for a quicker game or larger for a longer one.
How do I mark hits and misses?
The sheet includes a key: fill a cell with a dot for a hit and mark a cross for a miss. The ship legend shows each vessel drawn to its real length in grid cells.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every template on printsheet.io is completely free, with no sign-up, no account and no watermark. Generate as many sheets as you like.
How do I get an exact-scale print?
Choose your paper size, then in the print dialog set Scale to 100% or “Actual size” and Margins to None. The sheet is defined in real millimetres, so it prints at true size. Use the calibration ruler page to verify.
Which paper sizes are supported?
A4, A5, A3, A6, US Letter, Legal and Tabloid, in portrait or landscape. Pick the size that matches the paper loaded in your printer.
Can I save it as a PDF instead of printing?
Yes — choose “Save as PDF” as the printer in your browser's print dialog. The PDF keeps the exact millimetre dimensions.
